Since 2005, Métal Performances has been involved in several different sectors such as boiler making, installation, piping, metalwork and industrial protection. Founded by Didier Fauchoux, the company now has about forty employees and meets the needs of industrialists in various sectors such as food processing, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, but also of collectives and individuals.
We met with Dylan Fauchoux, the company's business manager, and talked about Métal Performances and how they came to the decision to specialize in orbital welding.
MÉTAL PERFORMANCES, actors of industrial projects
Métal Performances offers global solutions to its customers for each of their activities. With a design office, the engineers accompany the customers in the study, design, manufacturing and assembly on site of the boiler-made elements. The close cooperation between the design office and the production workshop (which are located on the same site), allows a quick communication with the production managers. The operational team consists of a dozen welders, four machine operators and a workshop logistics manager. Once the assemblies are completed, the Métal Performances assembly teams install them directly on the customer's site.

Thanks to our two separate stainless steel/steel workshops, we respect the handling guidelines of metal flows so as not to contaminate the material. Our machinery allows us to be autonomous in the manufacturing of boiler-made assemblies, we take into account technological developments and we invest to meet the demands of our customers, orbital welding is only one of many examples." Orbital welding, the modernization of the welding process
The metalworking sector is constantly growing, welding processes are undergoing new technological developments and customer demands are increasingly demanding, which calls for the adaptation of services. Moreover, the current crisis leading companies to turn to a social and solidary economy, choosing a French provider for the orbital solution was a key factor for Métal Performances. This choice guarantees proximity with the supplier and allows rapid assistance from AXXAIR's teams in case of any difficulties.

From renting the machines to purchasing them
In order to meet the needs of a customer in the food industry who required orbital welding, Métal Performances called on the company AXXAIR for renting equipment. The AXXAIR technical sales representative for the Brittany sector advised, at the time of his visit, the use of a closed head accompanied by a welding power supply from the SAXX range. Satisfied with the rental and the ease of use on site, Métal Performances proceeded with the purchase of a SATF-115 closed head and a SAXX-200 orbital welding power supply.

The value of orbital welding for piping projects
Although the purchase of an orbital welding machine is an investment, Métal Performances can now offer this service to many customer companies whose specifications require this welding method for their specific piping requirements.

As the company is subject to regular weld inspections, it will be able to meet the expectations of the inspection bodies thanks to the printing of the programs integrated into the welding power supply, which gives access to the process history of each weld.
Training with AXXAIR: from theory to practice
"It is interesting to be able to apprehend the various aspects of the machine with a professional. We were able to test, analyze and use the device in order to anticipate programming errors as well as technical adjustments for the proper use of the SATF-115 closed head." Dylan Fauchoux

During the training, the team was also able to learn about data collection on the SAXX 4.0-compatible power supplies, as well as data transfer via Wi-Fi.

Feedback after the training with AXXAIR
The Metal Performances teams were able to apply the knowledge acquired during this training on various piping sites carried out for their customers in the food industry. This was an opportunity for us to review with Dylan Fauchoux the use of the machines during this project and to get their feedback on the AXXAIR products.
